This Village Voice article by Christopher R. Weingarten details the rise and fall of numerous micro genres over the last decade thanks to the birth of the internet.My favorite part is the ridiculous examples of horrible music critic writing (particularly by the biggest culprit of overly romanticized praise, Pitchfork).
